Location
Located in the North Hills of Allegheny County, McCandless Township was officially created in 1851, after legislation carved it out of Pine Township. Named after Judge Wilson McCandless, a judge of the United States District Court of Western Pennsylvania, it became the Town of McCandless on January 1, 1975, and is now a home rule municipality operating under a charter. Today, nearly 28,457 residents occupy the Town of McCandless’ 16.4 square miles.
