Public hearing on zoning district change

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 7:30 PM at McCandless Town Hall, 9955 Grubbs Road, Wexford, PA 15090, on an ordinance which would amend the official Zoning Map for the Town of McCandless by changing the zoning district of certain property located on Cumberland Road, identified as Block/Lot 827-P-339, from Special District (SD) to Moderate Density Neighborhood (R-M).

Town Council is expected to take action on the ordinance and associated rezoning application no sooner than their March 11, 2024 regular business meeting beginning 7:30 PM at Town Hall. The full text of the proposed ordinance is available for inspection on the Town website (as well as a supplemental document), and at Town Hall during normal business hours.

Public hearing on Personnel Board

All citizens are invited to attend a public hearing on an ordinance tentatively identified as Ordinance No. 1547, an ordinance of the Town of McCandless, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, amending section 137.02 and subsections 101, 102, 202, 203, 204, 205, 208 and 303 of section 137.05 of article 137 of the Codified Ordinances of the Town of McCandless amending the terms of members, composition of board, meetings, qualifications for employment as a police officer, establishing certain requirements for hiring and promotion, and providing for an effective date thereof.  This public hearing will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 7:30 pm, during the regular business meeting.  Residents and taxpayers will be permitted to provide comments during the hearing. The ordinance will not be voted on at the hearing on January 8, 2024 but will be reviewed and voted on at the meeting on January 22, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. at the meeting of Town Council at Town Hall. 

Reappropriating monies for 2023

At its meeting on December 18, 2023 Town Council of the Town of McCandless enacted Ordinance No. 1546, an ordinance of the Town Council of the Town Of McCandless, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, amending Ordinance Nos. 1529 and 1543 reappropriating certain monies for fiscal year 2023. Ordained and Enacted into law the 18th day of December, 2023, to become effective immediately. 

2024 Town Budget approved

At its meeting on December 11, 2023 Town Council of the Town of McCandless enacted Ordinance No. 1544, an ordinance of the Town Council of the Town Of McCandless, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, fixing the real estate tax rate for the year 2024 and approving the Town budget for the year 2024.  Ordained and Enacted into law the 11th day of December, 2023, to become effective January 1, 2024. 

Meeting schedule for 2024

IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of McCandless as follows:

For the year 2024, the following schedule of meetings is hereby established:

a) Organizational Meeting of Town Council – January – 1st Tuesday – 8:00 p.m. (in accordance with Town Home Rule Charter)

b) Meetings of the Town Council – 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m., with the following exception(s):

  • May – 2nd and 3rd Monday - 7:30 p.m.
  • December – 2nd and 3rd Monday – 7:30 p.m.

c) Planning Commission – 1st Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., with the following exception(s):

  • January – 1st Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
  • November – 2nd Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

d) Zoning Hearing Board – 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m., with the following exception(s):

  • November– 3rd Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
  • December– 3rd Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

e) Environmental Advisory Committee – 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

f) Financial Development and Promotional Committee - 3rd Wednesday each month at 4:30 p.m. at the Heritage and Cultural Center

Any revision to the above schedule to accommodate holidays or other events which may be unforeseen at this time shall be by subsequent action by Council. Special meetings or emergency meetings may be held in accordance with the provisions of Section 401 (c) and (d) of the Town Charter.

All meetings shall be held in the Town Hall, 9955 Grubbs Road unless otherwise noted. All meetings are open to the public.
