Public Works Superintendent

The Town of McCandless is seeking qualified candidates to serve as its next Public Works Superintendent (Director). The current Superintendent is retiring after more than 50 years of service to the Town, 40 of which as the Public Works Superintendent. This is an extraordinary opportunity to step in and work with other leaders in the Town to set the course for the next decade and beyond.

The Public Works Superintendent manages a full array of services for the Town, including streets, storm water, parks, fleet management/maintenance and building maintenance, overseeing the full Public Works Department, made up of 26 full-time employees and 4 seasonal employees, and manages a combined annual budget of $4.45 Million and a Capital Improvement Budget of $3.2 Million.

The successful candidate will have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Public Administration or the equivalent; and have at least five (5) years of progressively responsible supervisory and administrative experience in public works management, construction management or a combination of education, supervisory experience and construction knowledge. The successful completion of graduate level course work in engineering, public works management or public administration may substitute for up to one (1) year of the experience.

Custodian (part-time)

The Town of McCandless has an opening for a part-time Custodian position. The working hours will range from 25-29 hours per week. We are looking to hire a hard-working Custodian who will be responsible for maintenance and cleaning our facilities. The successful candidate should be punctual, physically agile and dexterous, able to multi task priorities and have strong communication skills.
