Assistant to Town Manager for HR and Purchasing
The Town of McCandless is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the Assistant to the Town Manager for Human Resources and Purchasing. The successful candidate will work with the Town Manager and Assistant Town Manager, primarily in the areas of Human Resources and purchasing/procurement. The individual will also assist the Town Manager and Assistant Town Manager with special projects, grant application preparation, grant administration and budget preparation. The Assistant also serves as the recording secretary to Personnel Board, Pension Board and as FMLA Coordinator.
The position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in support of the Town’s human resources functions. He/She will maintain personnel records and receive requests for file access. They will respond to employee questions regarding employment conditions and benefits. Coordinates recruitment and selection process and ensures proper employee on-boarding. They will maintain eligibility lists for hiring, serve as technical advisor to the Town Manager on human resource matters and support the Assistant Town Manager on purchasing administration and develop comprehensive recommendations for the Leadership Team.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree with coursework in human resources, public administration, or business administration, or a related field, and four years of responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Planning and Development Administrator
Town of McCandless is seeking qualified candidates for the department head level position of Planning and Development Administrator. The incumbent is retiring after 24 years of service and manages the planning, building and codes inspection functions for the Town. This position is responsible for overseeing development in the municipality, including site and subdivision reviews and development and building construction.
The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal planning and community development as well as a track record of professional development activities, and prior zoning code administration experience. The individual should enjoy working in a small, yet fast paced organizational atmosphere, collaborating with his/her peers, and being an effective and positive member of the Town’s management team. He/she should be decisive, collaborative, open minded, fair, ethical and honest.
Minimum requirements include graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Master’s Degree in Planning, Public Administration or a closely related field. Three years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government. Or any acceptable combination of experience and training.
