Town Fire Marshal Dan Stack is the head of the Fire Prevention Bureau and is responsible for fire inspections of all buildings except residential. The public portions of apartments and dormitories (such as stairwells, corridors, garages, etc.) are not excepted.
The inspection includes readiness of fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems, and is made at least once every calendar year. Buildings considered to be of higher risk are inspected more often. A report of each inspection is prepared.
The Fire Marshal provides staff support to the Town's three volunteer fire companies—Highland Volunteer Fire Department, Ingomar Volunteer Fire Company, and Peebles District Volunteer Fire Company—and uses their assistance whenever practical for fire prevention activities. To learn more about each, please see the additional links.
If you have a fire emergency, call 911. DO NOT call the fire marshal's office or individual fire stations if you need emergency crews to respond. To learn more about when to call 911 versus the county's non-emergency dispatch number (412-473-3056), click here.
