The 18th annual Town of McCandless Community Day will take place Saturday, September 8.
It all begins at 12:15 p.m. with a parade that will travel along Blazier Drive, Ingomar Road and Grubbs Road (ending at Town Hall). This will be followed by a 1:15 opening ceremony.
Throughout the day, there will be numerous live acts, including musical performances by Kardaz, the Red Hot Ramblers, InTransit and the Allegheny Brass Band; dance performances by Center Stage and Michele’s Dance Center; and a special puppet show from Pittsburgh Puppet Works.
The Frank J. Farina Memorial Car Cruise will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at North Allegheny Intermediate School. The McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center will be open from 1 to 6 p.m., and a special blacksmithing demonstration will take place outside the Center at 2 and 4 p.m.
Additionally, food, games, rides, vendors and children’s activities will fill the grounds at Town Hall.
At 9 p.m., the event will conclude with a fireworks spectacular.
Parking will be available at the former Trader Horn lot on Blazier Drive and North Park Church on Ingomar Road. A shuttle will run from these location to Town Hall. Additionally, a shuttle will run from Town Hall to NAI for the car cruise until 6:15 p.m.
Want to help a good cause while you are at Community Day? The Citizens of McCandless booth will be collecting canned goods/non-perishables for North Hills Community Outreach. In particular, items needed are peanut butter, canned meat, chunky-type soups, crackers, condiments, canned fruits and veggies, personal care products, and pasta, rice or other side dishes.
