AHN and Sheetz-related public hearings in June

Two public hearings will be held at Town Hall in the month of June: one related to “small format hospitals” and another related to Sheetz.

“Small format hospitals”

On Monday, June 11 at 7:30 p.m., a hearing will be held to consider an ordinance tentatively identified as Ordinance No. 1475, which would define “small format hospital” and permit small format hospitals in the D-Development District and the Institutional District. Those residents and/or taxpayers of the Town present at the hearing will be permitted to comment on the ordinance.

Town Council will not vote on the ordinance at this hearing, but will vote on the proposed legislation at the Regular Business Meeting on Monday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Sheetz

On Monday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m., a hearing will be held to consider an ordinance tentatively identified as Ordinance No. 1476, which would amend the conditional use criteria for service stations to permit up to two service stations in the RC (Residential Commercial) district to be located within 1,500 feet of each other only when located at signalized intersections. Those residents and/or taxpayers of the Town present at the hearing will be permitted to comment on the proposed zoning amendment.

Town Council will not vote on the ordinance at this hearing, but will vote on the proposed legislation at the Regular Business Meeting on Monday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m.

A quick note on these

On rare occasions, the Town receives requests from a potential property owner or developer to change the Town’s zoning code to allow for a proposed use they have in mind. This is the case with both the Allegheny Health Network proposing a “small-format hospital” on Duncan Avenue and Sheetz Inc. wanting to move their gas station and convenience store across Perry Highway from its current location.
