National Night Out takes place Aug. 3

National Night Out

The Town of McCandless Police Department is proud to present National Night Out on Tuesday, August 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCandless Town Hall (9955 Grubbs Road).

This fun night of family-friendly activities is known for enhancing community partnerships with first responders. Additionally, we are asking the community to show their support by turning on their porch lights and spending the evening with their neighbors if they can’t be with us.

Kids can bring their bicycles (and helmets too) for a free Bicycle Rodeo and take this opportunity to dress up as their favorite first responder (there also will be a Junior Firefighter Challenge activity). There will be free hot dogs (and a couple food trucks, to boot) and plenty of giveaways and raffles as well as a live broadcast from Bob FM. The McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center will be open, and Northland Public Library will be there to check out children's books on first responders.

First responder vehicles will be on display. AHN LifeFlight is tentatively scheduled to touch down on Devlin Field at 6 p.m. The McCandless Township Democratic Committee will collect bookbags and school supplies for Crisis Center North.

The night will culminate with a Movie in the Park at dusk hosted by the McCandless Community Association.

Parking is available at the lot on Aufman Lane between the heritage center and soccer fields.
