Nike Missile Site presentation Sept. 19

Please note, this event is full and registration is closed.

Did you know that a bunker hidden in the woods near Hosack Elementary School once served as the location for “the last line of defense” against a Soviet aerial attack? Early in the 1950s, these and other sites were constructed to protect Pittsburgh from long-range Soviet bombers, using the world's first surface-to-air missile known as "Nike."

Learn more about this fascinating history at this presentation, to be held at the McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center on Thursday, September 19 at 7 p.m.

If you are interested in attending, please reserve a spot by e-mailing or calling 412-364-0616 Ext. 118.

The Heritage Center is located on Aufman Lane (off Grubbs Road between McCandless Town Hall and the McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority).
