Town Council on May 18 voted to appoint M. Michele “Shelly” Sponholz to the vacant Ward 2 seat on Council.
She will fill in the unexpired term of Bill Kirk, a Republican who resigned at the end of April. This term expires at the end of 2021.
Ms. Sponholz, a 33-year resident of McCandless, retired as the senior vice president for real estate and development for Giant Eagle in 2016 after more than 20 years with the company. Prior to that, she was a regional real estate and development manager with the McDonalds Corporation.
Currently, she serves as the vice chair of the Town’s Environmental Advisory Committee.

- Appointed Cindy Waeltermann to fill an unexpired term on the Activities Advisory Committee
- Appointed Raj Ginde to serve as the 2020-2021 Junior Councilperson
