The McCandless Police Department is enacting the following further restrictions to limit person to person contact. We are temporarily suspending fingerprinting, prescription drug drop offs and the taking of reports at the station. Please call the non-emergency number 412-473-3056 and an officer will call you back. Of course, if you have a dire emergency and need immediate help, you can still come to the station. The McCandless Police Department is a community police organization that cares about its residents. Committed to promoting the Town of McCandless as a quality place, the police department provides a wide variety of services to the residents of McCandless.
The McCandless Police Department, located in the Town Hall, includes 22 patrol officers, two detectives, four patrol sergeants, two lieutenants, a three-person civilian support staff, and six school crossing guards, under the direction of Acting Chief Ryan Hawk.
The Department is organized into three divisions: Administration, Patrol, and Investigations/Crime Prevention.
The Town, which is patrolled 24 hours a day, is divided into several different patrol districts, served by 12 marked patrol units. These units provide preventative patrols, response to citizens' complaints, and requests for aid and traffic law enforcement. The police department offers residents a number of community-oriented information programs.
You are encouraged to contact 911 for anything that appears to be suspicious, unusual, or unsafe at your residence, in your neighborhood, or anywhere in the Town. For non-emergencies, Allegheny County Dispatch can be reached at 412-473-3056. For more info on when to call 911 vs. calling non-emergency, click here.
Administrative calls should be directed to 412-369-7992 (DO NOT call this number if you need police to respond to an incident). E-mails may be directed here.
