Due to the ongoing issues related to the COVID 19 pandemic the Town of McCandless, as a member of the Allegheny North Tax Collection Committee, has voted to extend the 2020 local Earned Income Tax filing deadline to May 17, 2021 — consistent with the Federal US Treasury (IRS) and the PA Department of Revenue 2020 tax return deadlines.
In June 2008, the Pennsylvania Legislature ratified, and the governor signed into law, Act 32 of 2008. Act 32 requires that the collection of the Earned Income and Net Profits Tax be consolidated on a countywide basis, with a single tax collector for each county, by January 1, 2012. An exception was made for Allegheny County, which was divided into four tax collection districts: North, East, Southwest, and the City of Pittsburgh. The Town and the North Allegheny School District are located in the Allegheny North Tax Collection District (ANTCD).
In the summer of 2010, the 60 taxing districts located in the ANTCD interviewed three potential vendors to handle the tax collection responsibilities and chose the Keystone Collections Group (Keystone). The Town then elected to appoint Keystone beginning January 1, 2011, for the collection of the Earned Income Tax and Local Services Tax for 2011 and future tax year taxes.
