Zoning Hearing Board

The Town of McCandless Zoning Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial body made up of three qualified electors of the Town, appointed by Council, who serve overlapping three-year terms. There are also two alternate members of the board, appointed by Council, who serve three-year terms.

The Zoning Hearing Board holds requested hearings, as prescribed by the Town and Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code for: variances from the zoning ordinance, special exceptions, appeals from actions of the zoning officer, challenges to the validity of the zoning ordinance or map.

Customarily, at least one attorney and one engineer are members.
