Frank J. Farina Jr. served as the Chairman of the North Allegheny Music Department and Director of Bands, including “The Marching 300,” for 26 years. Frank had a deep passion for teaching, music, and family. He brought the world of music to countless students and showcased their talents with many college bowl game appearances, including the prestigious Rose Bowl and regional awards bands. He also took students abroad to perform concerts to European audiences, showing goodwill to others through music as the Director of the American Youth Symphony. He chaired many musical boards and helped to found local performing groups. Frank’s outlook on life was a specific mindset: “ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE.” He made his success by having not just any attitude, but a great ATTITUDE. People remembered him for always being optimistic and enthusiastic.

Founded in 2015, The Farina Foundation was established to continue the legacy of Frank J. Farina, Jr. He believed every child should have the opportunity to fulfill their musical aspirations. Many youth with musical potential lack the chance to experience the arts due to financial need, lack of resources, and personal challenges. The Farina Foundation empowers youth with the opportunity to nurture this talent to its full extent by providing scholarship, donations of refurbished instruments and financial support for instrument rentals and lessons to children in need.
