West View Park may have closed forever in 1977 but its impact on local families is multi-generational. For 71 years the park was the site of thousands of school and company picnics, a spot where couples met and fell in love, and where millions of Pittsburghers visited for a day of summer fun to the delight of amusement rides and attractions. Join us for a look back at West View Park showcasing photos from the park’s earliest days up until its final day of operation.

About the SPEAKER

Mike Funyak, a native Pittsburgher has worked in the amusement park industry for over 10 years. He is a 2015 business school graduate from Robert Morris University and is currently the Assistant Director of Operations at DelGrosso’s Park & Laguna Splash near Altoona. Mike currently sits on the Amusement Park and Attractions Committee for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions and is also the Assistant Coordinator for the annual Pennsylvania Amusement Parks and Carnival Operators Ride Safety Seminar. Like many in Western Pennsylvania, Mike has a great appreciation for local history and owes part of his very existence to West View Park’s Danceland, where his grandparents first met and fell in love. In 2021, he published the book West View Park, the Story of the T.M. Harton Company.
