Join our Gingerbread House Competition this year! Show off your creativity and enter to win passes to Fun Fore All! Gingerbread houses will be on display at Winterfest on Saturday, December 6th. Event attendees will vote for their favorite house and the house with the most votes wins!
We have limited display space, so please register online so we can plan ahead. Drop off your entry at McCandless Town Hall beginning Monday, November 24 until 3:30pm on Tuesday, December 2.
Contest Guidelines:
- Family household teams ONLY
- Base size no larger than 16” x 16”
- Gingerbread house no larger than: L=12 inches W=12 inches H=15 inches
- Gingerbread house must be winter holiday themed
- No battery or electric components
- Base should be made of heavy cardboard, foam core, or wood. If using cardboard, cover the base with aluminum foil so that moisture from the icing does not soak into it.
- Use royal icing! We cannot accept structures made with egg or butter because they turn rancid and soften easily causing the structure to disintegrate. Nothing that requires refrigeration should be used to decorate the house.
- Attach a 3x5 index card with the household name to the house.
All gingerbread houses can be picked up after Wednesday, December 17th. Houses that are not picked up by Friday, December 19th will be discarded.
