McCandless' ever increasing population and traffic flow has brought more diversified development into the area. McKnight Road was built in the mid-1950s and became the primary access into the North suburban areas. Retail and offices occupy some of the McCandless segment of the McKnight corridor. The McCandless Crossing East and West development continues to flourish and welcomes both businesses and consumers to shop in the Town.
Today, almost 30,000 people live in the Town's 16.4 square miles-just a few more than when James Duff settled here in 1795.
