Earned Income & Net Profits Tax

Overview

All residents of the Town of McCandless are required to pay the earned income and net profits tax on salaries, wages, and net profits earned while residing in the Town. The tax rate is one percent which is shared equally between the Town and the North Allegheny School District. Pennsylvania employers are required to withhold the Local Earned Income tax on behalf of their employees. Taxpayers must complete a Certificate of Residency for their employers and provide the Town of McCandless/North Allegheny School District Political Subdivision Code (PSD Code) which is 710704 and the Earned Income Tax rate of 1.0%. For those who are self-employed or who do not have employer withholding, the tax is due in quarterly installments; however, if your annual earnings are less than $12,000, you are not required to make quarterly payments. All residents with earned income, wages, and/or net profits are required to file an annual Final Earned Income Tax Return by April 15th of the following year even if you have employer withholding and/or are not expecting a refund.
