Hunting

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania permits hunting within the Town of McCandless; however, some requirements must be met. An individual must be in the legal process of hunting and meet certain safety zone requirements. In general terms, the safety zones prohibit hunting within 150 yards around an occupied dwelling house, residence, or other building occupied by human beings, or any barn, stable, or other building used in connection therewith, or any attached or detached playground of any school, nursery school, or daycare center. The safety zone is reduced to 50 yards when applied to archery deer hunters. The use of a rifle to hunt in Allegheny County is prohibited. Residents should not hesitate to contact the police department if they have any concerns regarding hunters.
